About the Team

We are a trio of nerdy folk who believe in the magic of tabletop games. Driven by our love of games and the joy they bring, we want to help other people come together with friends and family to laugh and forge unforgettable memories through the power of games.

Jen

Jen grew up playing games like Monopoly and Crib with her family, and first played Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) when she was 6 years old with her brother and some kids in her neighbourhood. After a number of years focused on playing outside and building her career, she came back to D&D in full force about 10 years ago. She finds that spending time playing games is a great way to balance out her busy days. For Jen, gaming isn't an escape - it's a way to stay fully present with loved ones. Leading role playing games as a game master (GM) has become one of her favourite ways to spend quality time with her teenage son and his friends.

Jen has spent over 25 years working with children, youth and adults in the roles of coach, instructor, mentor, and guide in a variety of fields (gymnastics, rock climbing, post-secondary education). She also has extensive experience in coordinating events in a variety of settings from after-school programs, summer camps, themed retreats, competitive events, and classes. In the early 2000s, Jen owned and operated a local rock climbing guide service here in Squamish. She now moonlights at her day job doing operations at a software company. Jen has been a game master for over a decade for a wide variety of players.

Jen loves playing outside (especially trail running or climbing), travel, her somewhat neglected veggie garden, social justice, grouchy cats, and chocolate.

Kim

Cozy family game nights at home and while camping as a kid are some of Kim’s most cherished memories. Games like Pit, Pictionary and Stop Thief brought laughter, a strong sense of belonging and togetherness. As a young adult, Kim noticed that she felt excluded from gaming experiences because of her gender. Like many, she turned to video games where she could play video versions of games like Catan, Ticket to Ride, and Magic the Gathering, without feeling out of place. But that didn’t give the same warm feeling that in-person games give. Kim now enjoys regular board games, card games, and Dungeons & Dragons with family and friends, and she is passionate about ensuring everyone feels included.

Kim has spent over a decade teaching and developing educational programs. She has a wide range of experience, including working in the service industry, helping local Indigenous communities with language revitalization and boosting community resources, and working with minority women in rural Vietnam in entrepreneurial development. She has a strong artistic side, with a range of musical instruments under her belt and is self-taught in illustrating on the iPad. Kim was exposed to D&D as an adult, and now enjoys both playing with friends and being the game master for her family.

Kim loves animals, nature, magic, food, making up adventure stories for her stepkids, cute illustrations, and sparkly things.

Aaron

Aaron is a self-proclaimed “socially awkward guy” who found a love for tabletop games at a young age. Games, he found, are fantastic for him and fellow awkward-folk because they give clear structure to get-togethers. You don’t have to worry about what you’ll say or do, because gameplay lays it all out for you. And from that safer and less stressful place, friendships and conversation can flourish. Aaron is most passionate about making you feel comfortable and welcomed in our store and gaming space. To all the awkward-folk: let us take you on a gaming adventure where you can sit back and relax, knowing you need to do nothing but enjoy the game.

Aaron has extensive experience designing worlds and leading role playing games. He is incredibly creative, and is our in-house miniature painting expert and costume creator. He is also our pop culture buff, as the only one of us who can quote books, movies and comics at the drop of a hat.

Aaron loves making costumes, painting minis, watching live stream RPGs, Critical Role, and his day job as a super great massage therapist.
